I just read this very touching story about a woman who was hurt in an airplane crash. She was in a coma for 10 weeks, was burned over 85 % of her body and had surgery every other day for several weeks. The whole thing is horrible, but at the same time I find it inspiring to see that human beings have such a strong will to survive. In the beginning she wanted to die, but after a while she changed her mind and wanted to live for her kids and family. You can read the article here, and here's a link to her blog.

Kakburk i glas

...
Today I made a last trip to town to buy some final presents. I found some gifts and also this lovely big glass jar for cookies. As soon as I came home I filled it with almond cakes (after I'd cleaned it of course) and tied a pink ribbon around it.

Ett mysigt snölandskap

...
When I woke up this morning it had snowed lots and lots and it's still snowing like crazy (even though you can't really see it in the photo). It's really cozy, like a big white blanket all over the place. I'm just hoping the snow is still here on Christmas!

Wonderfully cute dress! It's just a shame that it's for babies, I would have liked one for myself...

Rosor i december

...
Yesterday my friend Sofia visited and we had such a nice day. We ate mozzarella pizza, watched a Poirot movie and spent a lot of time talking. When we were at the grocery store to buy the pizzas I bought some roses too, and now they're standing on the kitchen table, making the december darkness a bit more cheerful.

These super pretty candle holders are apparantly for Hanukkah, but I think they would be lovely as ordinary decorations too.

Några höjdpunkter i London

During our trip to London we had many nice experiences, and some of them stood out a little extra. The first was a visit to the teahouse Ladurée in Harrods. It's a french bakery that I've read about, but I had no idea that they had one in London - luckily we got the tip from a friend who's lived there. The whole place was so charming and french with lots of pastel coloured pastries and pretty boxes to place them in if you wanted to buy some extra. As we had our coffee, a wonderful pastry called Plaisir Sucré and a mini macaroon we sat next to a girl that had just bought a new Dior coat. That added a certain sense of luxury to the experience.
We had planned to go see a musical if we could find tickets. Unfortunately tickets were a bit scarce on that particular day, so we ended up seeing a play instead which was also very nice. We saw Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, which has been running for 58 years in a row! As I love her books and the Poirot and Miss Marple movies it was a great treat to see the play. We sat in the front row wich was perhaps not super comfortable, but on the other hand you could see everything that went on on the stage so it was still fun. As a bonus I stumbled upon an Anthropologie store, and I've been a fan of their stuff for a long time so that was very nice.

I thought I'd show some photos from our trip to London this weekend. We borrowed Martin's parent's tiny pocket camera, which was very practical.
On Thursday we spent a good part of the day on the airport in Stockholm, since we hadn't found a good flight. It was actually kind of cozy though, we bought a book each and sat down in some comfy chairs and just relaxed and read.
The walk down to Oxford Street on Friday morning was sunny and beautiful.
Wherever we looked, there were lots of red buses, many of which were covered in Harry Potter commercials.
Everywhere we went there were Starbucks coffee shops. We ate breakfast there once and had lattes there once, but I was a bit disappointed after all the positive reviews I'd read.
There was lots of Christmas decorations in shop windows. I thought this one from Benetton was pretty funny.
No one could miss that the movie Christmas Carol was about to premiere, but I still thought those lights were cozy.
We did some real tourist-y things too, like taking a ride in the London Eye and visiting Madame Tussaud's waxworks museum. The former was more fun I thought, it was really special to see the city from above. Madame Tussaud's was fun too, but it was so extremely crowded. We tried the attraction Scream in the horror cabinet, but we had to back out again since I couldn't take being attacked by screamin people in the dark.
Big Ben i skymningsljuset, fotat av min käre make.
Big Ben in the twillight, shot by Martin. The funny thing was that we went past the houses of parliament and talked about where Big Ben was. We both seemed to remember that it was somewhere else. After some thinking I realised that perhaps it might just be the bell tower in the houses of parliament...
On Saturday we walked through Mayfair in the afternoon. It's a very pretty neighbourhood with lots of old houses, and many consulates are located there. After a while we reached Picadilly Street and Green Park, which leads to Buckingham Palace. The park was really cozy and beautiful, even though it rained and the skies were grey.

I just had to shoot one of those classic tourist shots of Martin in front of the palace. Please note how kind he is to help carry my bag for me.
After having looked at the palace for a little while, we went on to The Queen's Gallery & Shop which was just around the corner. In the entrance they had a big Christmas tree with crowns in them. Somehow it was very atmospheric and nice, even though we agreed that it would have looked really tacky in our place.
Finally I just had to show you a photo of the bed in our hotel room. That lepoard printed blanket will haunt me for the rest of my life I think! All in all we had a really good trip and I can really recommend going to London if you want to experience a nice metropolis.

London calling

...
Right now we're packing the last things for our trip to London tomorrow. We got it as a wedding present and we're so excited to get away and see some completely different things. The flight to London is tomorrow night, but we have to fly to Stockholm in the morning so we'll spend the whole day at the airport. We'll try to make the best of it and buy some books, magazines and just relax and have fun together. On Friday and Saturday we'll enjoy all that London can offer in the form of shopping, Madame Tussauds, perhaps a musical and then a visit to Notting Hill plus some other things. I hope you'll have a great weekend too!

Underbara klänningar...
